Carlton Johnson was arraigned Wednesday in Muskegon County District Court on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Tim Maat said the case may involve more victims and span 40 years. Dozens of witnesses were interviewed by police after one victim came forward.
Some of the sexual assaults are believed to have occurred at a Muskegon church.
Johnson, of Muskegon, is being held on a $300,000 bond. A preliminary examination is scheduled for June 26.
