The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital, adjacent to the intersection where the crash occurred.

Police were called at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Taylor and Sheldon.

Bailey Grabel, 16, said he was riding behind his friend, Merrick Richardson, when Richardson rode into the intersection.

"He slowed down, then he went across," Grabel said. "I guess he didn't see the car coming."

Grabel said he yelled for his friend to watch out, but he didn't hear the warning.

Richardson was struck by the pickup truck.

"When he fell down, I ran over to him," Grabel said. "He was complaining about his leg."
