UPDATE 2:30 p.m. Monday) A car crash on the U.S. 31 after noon Monday backed up traffic in the southbound lane.

Police were not available to give any information on the crash because they have had multiple crashes in the past couple of hours on U.S. 31, said Lori Spelde of the Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police Department.

Spelde said traffic was backed up on the highway because the Electric Forest Festival at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury concluded today.

A minor personal injury crash just occurred at U.S. 31 and Taft at 2:30 p.m.

Driving north on US31 this afternoon at about 1:30, there was a "minor accident" about every 2 miles. People need to slow the hell down and pay attention to their surroundings. By the time I was headed back into town at about 5:00 it was fine in town, until you get to Robbins and then it was backup again because of the Ferris accident. Nice weather = tourists not knowing basic highway driving etiquette.

Distracted driving.... poor driving skills.

The ultimate cause of increased insurance for us all.
