The Allendale school said in a statement on its website that the Kirkhof Center and the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons were evacuated for about an hour before officials gave the all-clear for people to return.

The break happened about 8:45 a.m. when an irrigation company struck a main gas line.

There were no reports of injuries.
