That's up from four deaths last year during a shorter period.

State police said the deaths happened in 10 crashes.

The holiday counting period started at 6 p.m. July 3 and ended at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

The 2012 Fourth of July holiday was a two-day period, and this year's was five.
