Taken from the Betten Baker Chevrolet Buick dealership at 930 O’Malley Drive was a red 2001 Chevy Camaro Z-28 SS with a dealer plate of 421D28.

The suspect left behind a Mercedes SUV that had been stolen earlier that morning from a dealership in Ferndale. The dealer license plate was originally on that vehicle.

Police said the man distracted a salesperson at the Coopersville dealership with questions about the Camaro. He then took the keys and drove away in the Camaro in an unknown direction, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect was described as a black male; 5-feet, 8-inches tall with a medium build; possibly in his 30s; and wearing a white T-shirt.
