Derek Kraai, 18, and Damian Sosa, 19, were arrested early Friday after police were alerted to a break-in at Hungry Howie’s Pizza, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department. The two Holland Township men were arraigned via video in the Hudsonville District Court on Monday and remain lodged in the Ottawa County Jail without bond.

Both were charged with breaking and entering of a building and probation violations. Kraai was also charged with possession of marijuana.

Deputies received a 911 call at about 1:30 a.m. Friday from a witness who noted the front window smashed at Hungry Howie's Pizza, 6185 Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale Township. Shortly after that, the witness noted two men fleeing the pizza business on foot.

This witness’ observation was broadcast to area patrol deputies and a deputy in the area of I-96 and 68th Avenue in Coopersville noted a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse driving erratically. Deputies stopped the car and arrested the two occupants.

Further investigation showed that the two had just been involved in the Hungry Howie break-in, Bennett said. They also discovered that the suspects were in possession of a substantial amount of marijuana.

The investigation continues and it is likely that additional burglary charges will be lodged, noted Lt. Mark Bennett.
