Police said Ashley Nicole Schiller, 21, was a front seat passenger in a car that crashed on Buchanan Street, near 112th Avenue in Robinson Township, at about 4:30 a.m.

The driver lost control of the car while traveling west on Buchanan, ran off the road and struck a tree, police said. The car landed on its side on Buchanan, then caught fire.

Police said Schiller and the driver of the car —Cameron Taylor Gwaltney, 19, of Covington, Ky. — were able to get themselves out of the car and transported themselves to North Ottawa Community Hospital. They were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Grand Haven hospital, said Sgt. Matt Wildfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash," Wildfong said. "The crash remains under investigation."

I trust that the toxicology results will be published.

The inference that alcohol was involved will quite likely be "dismissed".

Just sayin'
