The 18-year-old Grand Haven woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries including a bruise on her head, according to Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke.
The victim’s mother reported her missing about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
“Officers determined by interviewing the victim’s mother that the victim had planned to meet her ex-boyfriend,” Hawke said. “The victim’s mother was concerned for her daughter’s safety.”
A search began for the suspect and the victim was returned to her home at about 11 p.m.
“It is alleged that she was held against her will by the suspect for more than two hours, driven to locations in Grand Haven and north of Grand Haven and physically assaulted,” Hawke said.
A weapon was reportedly involved.
Police located and arrested the suspect in Grand Haven at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Kyle Clayton Christianson demanded preliminary examination when he was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in 58th District Court. He was charged with unlawful imprisonment, felonious assault and operating while intoxicated.
He is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on a $15,000/10 percent bond.
