Emergency crews responded to the northbound lanes of the highway at about 12:05 p.m. after a black Chevy Tahoe hit the guardrail and spun around.
Traffic was backed up on the northbound lanes of the highway for about 45 minutes until the scene was cleared.
Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police said Nora Golden, 34, of Muskegon, veered off the road and struck a guardrail while checking on children who were arguing in the back seat.
The car spun around and rested against the median, facing south in the northbound lane.
Four children in the car, ages 11, 9 and two 5-year-olds, all suffered minor injuries, police said.
