Jamila Williams, 36, pleaded no contest Sept. 19 in Kent County Circuit Court to four counts of criminal sexual conduct. A no-contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.

Authorities said Williams had sex with two 15-year-olds and two 16-year-olds. She worked at the Grand Rapids University Prep Academy, part of the Grand Rapids Public Schools.

In court Tuesday, Williams apologized and asked for forgiveness, but said she didn't "prey on" the boys.

Judge Paul Sullivan said the harm Williams brought to the school, students and her family is "incalculable."

I'm not so sure 15-16 year olds are so innocent. Our laws do hammer the adult perpetrators pretty hard. But because of the proliferation of the internet and all the negative exposure being seen on a daily basis by boys as young as young can be. The young people need to be held accountable also in the criminal justice system. Young people have been thoroughly desensitized when it comes to sexual perversions. We are seeing more and more rapes committed by 10,11,12 year olds and teenagers. The boys involved should have been assessed to see if they needed to be charged as juveniles. Those boys new better - they had to know better. There were at least 4 of them. They are not all victims. Boys know who to fight back, period. Mrs Love was handled, now we need laws to hold minors accountable and hold them to codes of conduct.

This is a joke, right?

Is it illegal to enter into an intimate relationship with your teacher or with someone far older than you?

Is it illegal to enter into an intimate relationship with your student, many years your junior, over whom you hold real and undeniable authority and power? Is it possible to demonstrate without reasonable doubt that that authority did not cause the junior participant to feel compelled to participate?

I would say no, yes and no, meaning that the proper person was held accountable in this case. You want to blame young people for what they are exposed to?

If an adult wants to force sex unto children (or anyone else) without the hassle of being called a rapist or face lots of prison, then make sure you do your raping at specific colleges or in Wyoming where rape is redefined as un-consensual sex...badda boom! From 20 years to 20 days...just don’t drive the getaway car after more than 3 brewskies or you’re in REAL trouble!
What else can we soften up to reward violence and irresponsibility???
How we do a makeover for bank robbery, even the term sounds way too harsh so from this day forward it shall be known as a “massive withdrawal without an account or slip”, armed robbery or assault with a deadly weapon? Pish-posh it is a “disagreement resolved using a mechanical device”! Get rid of the charge of “Murder” to “actively reducing the drag on socialized medicine by 1”…Now that’s more positive sounding!
is it just the media reporting more or does it seem more frequently teachers that see their charges as sex toys?

1. This is a person in a position of trust who molested children entrusted to her care who have not reached the age of majority - much worse than sexual harassment in the workplace between someone in authority and a subordinate adult - 8-15 isn't enough, and she should be subject to civil suit. The number of teachers engaging in this behavior far outweighs the priest molesters in the Catholic Church, but is ignored by the media.

2. Any bets on whether her union attorneys are fighting for her right to keep her union benefits?
