A two-car crash on U.S. 31 near the Grand Haven drawbridge backed up traffic for a while Thursday afternoon.

Both cars were in the left southbound lane of the highway, police said. When one vehicle stopped, just south of Coho Drive, the one behind was unable to stop in time and hit the other in the back end at about 3 p.m.

Lt. Clint Holt of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said the rear vehicle was being driven by a male, but he did not release his name or age. The driver suffered minor injuries from deployment of his car's airbag, Holt said, and was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital as a precaution.

The car that was hit from behind was driven by a female, who was not injured, Holt said.

I'd like to know more details here.

Why did the first vehicle that stopped, stop in the left lane??

Why is the reporting of driver sex apparently more important than the cause of the accident?

It is also good reminder that airbags can cause injuries...

The old "10 o'clock / 2 o'clock" hand position is not so good these days.

Better to be "8 o'clock / 4 o'clock"....

And turn your head sideways when drinking from aluminum or hard plastic coffee cups..... just in case!!
