An alarm company employee contacted Ottawa County Central Dispatch about 2:48 a.m. Tuesday when surveillance cameras revealed a clerk was being robbed at gunpoint at the Speedway gas station, 1850 Baldwin St.

Dispatchers called the store and the clerk told them he was robbed at knifepoint by a person wearing a mask. That person ran out of the store.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies used a canine unit to track the suspect, but lost the trail in an area where the person was believed to have gotten into a car, said Sgt. Matt Wildfong.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the sheriff’s department or Silent Observer at 1-877-88 SILENT.

The incident remains under investigation.
