Julien Alexander Tirado and Kevin Singnoy Boonheaun, both 17, were killed in the crash.

The Kent County Medical Examiner's office said the blood-alcohol content of both teens was twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Tirado was the driver of the car when, just after midnight Tuesday, he lost control of the car, which struck a guard rail and came to rest in the left lane on I-196 near Lake Michigan Drive. Boonheaun was one of three passengers.

After one vehicle stopped on the right shoulder to check on their condition, another vehicle slammed into Tirado's car in the roadway.

If they were both "Legally Drunk" then there is no problem, however one might say they were "illegally drunk" and now there is an issue. When they track down the morons who bought the alcohol for these young people, and they will, the proverbial stuff will hit the fan.

Sorry to the families of these young men, your lives too are forever changed.

Your statement is a near miss to a great point.

Care to elaborate on this statement? I'm curious what the near miss might be.....

It was just a subtle play on terms used such as legally drunk = drunk. Near miss = collision. Old George Carlin skit + bored at work = lame jokes.

ahah....well, I'm on the short side (under 6 ft) and so it obviously went over my head! I'm a big Carlin fan too, so I really have no excuse.

Legally drunk and illegally drunk. Thats a real good point. But oh holy stinking cow! When they catch the buyers of the booze. Its easy, all they have to do is check cameras at checkouts. Charges are going to fly. Furnishing alcohol to minors, negligent homicide, Furnishing resulting in death, Contributing to delinquency of minors, child endangerment. And if they met or did the alcohol deal delivery on Facebook or texting in any way shape or form U P C H A R G E S filed at the Preliminary hearing thank you very much - hoo ra! to an Internet Felony resulting in death and Using a computer to commit a crime. Down they will go for 40 years at the wonderful MDOC Shangrila hotel.
