Jail officer suspended for "inappropriate conduct"
A corrections officer at the Ottawa County Jail has been suspended from duty because of allegations of inappropriate conduct with a female inmate.

An internal investigation is being conducted.
“It is the department’s intention to complete this investigation as soon as is practical so that further determinations can be made based on the findings of this investigation,” said Undersheriff Gregory Steigenga in a press release issued this morning.
The officer was suspended Oct. 30 with pay, according to Steigenga.
He would not comment on further details of the case, but said the investigation could be completed Tuesday or Wednesday.
There are 46 corrections officers assigned to the jail, 12130 Fillmore St. in West Olive. The jail averages 375 inmates.
