Wylie Devera walked away from the crash that occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on Pontaluna Road just east of the Old Grand Haven Road intersection.

Devera said he was heading home, westbound on Pontaluna, when he saw a car start to pull out of the Speedway gas station.

"I tried to avoid him by going into the left lane," Devera said. "He hit the back of my car and spun me around."

The car also flipped completely over and landed on the passenger side.

Norton Shores firefighters stabilized the vehicle and cut the windshield off the car to free the trapped man.

Devera walked away from his Honda CRV, was checked by paramedics, and then stood with the other driver as they watched workers upright his car.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Muskegon man, said he looked but did not see Devera's car when he was pulling out onto the road.

Police said the Muskegon man would be ticketed for failure to yield.

Yikes! That is a busy intersection at times.
