Adam John Singleton of Marne died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

“Foul play is not suspected,” he said.

The teen was last seen about 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grand River Open Space off Linden Road near Lake Michigan Drive, police said.

His family reported him missing about 8 p.m. Saturday.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and Wright-Tallmadge firefighters searched from the ground while Michigan State Police used night vision goggles, infrared cameras and spotlights to search from the air.

Police found Singleton’s car Saturday evening. His body was located Sunday morning on property adjacent to the Ottawa County open space land, Bennett said.

The incident is still under investigation.
