Ambulances transported Miranda Martin, 33, of Allendale Township and Jonathan VanderWal, 29, of Allendale to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids following the 7:35 a.m. crash.

Martin and VanderWal were in stable condition at the time, said Sgt. Jeff Steigenga of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said that VanderWal was westbound on Lake Michigan Drive, and stopped at the intersection of 88th Avenue where he was waiting to make a turn south.

That’s when he was rear-ended by Martin, Steigenga said.

Martin’s car ended up in the eastbound lane of the highway and was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Carol Morren, 52, of West Olive.

Morren’s car ended up in the ditch after that collision. She was not hurt.

Allendale and Robinson Township firefighters assisted at the scene.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Steigenga said.
