Witnesses said the man had a gash on his leg.

Police responded to Green Street between 138th Avenue and 136th Avenue about 1:15 p.m. Saturday when a car and a pickup truck collided, and the car slid off the road and landed up against a utility pole.

Ron Welling, 73, of Robinson Township, said he was driving his red PT Cruiser west on Green Street when a pickup truck starting sliding into his path.

"He came around the corner and he was losing it," Welling said. He kept on coming in a slide. I tried to get out of the way, but hit the back of the truck. He was covering both lanes."

Police said the pickup truck, driven by Brandon Davis, 28, of Grand Haven, was eastbound.

The truck spun completely around, and despite Welling's attempt to avoid a collision, his car struck the back of the pickup truck.

Welling's car slid off the road and was stopped by a utility pole.

Welling suffered facial injuries, but sought his own treatment.

North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics took the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital.

Robinson Township firefighters assisted the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department at the scene.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck would probably get a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.

Och!! Powerslide around the corner did not work.

It is unfortunate that the driver of the PT Cruiser got the worst of the crash which was caused by Brandon Davis's reckless driving.

deuce liti

I would write an open comment to those who speed during bad weather and their mental declination, but they're not big into reading.

Their hobbies include coloring and lunch.

...and they color outside the lines to be sure, and also their lunch is paid for from the change they steal from others on the playground.
