Among the crashes was one on Grand Avenue heading eastbound, just over the top of the hill.

The driver suffered injuries after her car slid into a tree. She was taken by ambulance to NOCH to be checked.

Police urged motorists to exercise extreme caution as the roads are extremely slippery.

Officials also blocked Taylor by Sheldon temporarily as Public Works officials were called to put salt on the hill.

North of Grand Haven, on northbound U.S. 31 near VanWagoner, a PT Cruiser slid off the highway and rolled over into a stand of trees. Both occupants of the vehicle were able to get out, but one did report head pain.

A little later in the afternoon, at about 4:15 p.m., a vehicle traveling along I-96 flipped into the median in Crockery Township. Westbound traffic slowed near the Nunica exit. One person was taken away by ambulance.
