Police said the woman and her husband were hunting in the area of 16th Avenue and Byron Road. Her 27-year-old husband shot at a rabbit, “but did not see that his wife was in his line of fire,” said Sgt. Greg Rotman of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Zeeland Hospital shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday where Emily Busscher, 24, was being treated for her wounds.

A medical helicopter transported Busscher to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where officials said she is in fair condition.

The shooting is still under investigation.

Is he related to Dick Cheney?

The irony is the rabbits husband had recently taken out a huge insurance policy on her. So close!
