The police department has taken two additional reports of snowblowers being stolen from unlocked garages. Both thefts are believed to have occurred the night of Jan. 17.

In both incidents, garage doors were open when the snowblowers were stolen. The thefts occurred in the 600 block of Aue Road and the 3500 block of Mohawk. It is believed the suspect(s) are parking down the street and approaching the homes by foot.

Police have taken three reports in mid-December involving the theft of snowblowers. The incidents occurred in the 3400 block of Hiawatha Drive, 1900 block of Bonneville, and 1600 block of Ritter Drive. All thefts are believed to have occurred during daylight hours. Two snowblowers were stolen from open garages and the third was stolen from the side of the garage.

Police are encouraging all residents to secure their snow-blowers inside their garages and to close their garage doors.

Be vigilant by reporting any suspicious subjects or vehicles in your neighborhoods. Call 911 immediately to report the suspicious activity so an officer can make contact with the subject. Provide the 911 operator with a thorough description of the suspect, how they are acting suspicious, and a direction of travel.

Anyone with information to assist in the investigations is asked to contact Silent Observer, 231-72-CRIME, or Norton Shores Police at 231-733-2691.

Sounds like a snow job to me. Hopefully the cops will be able to blow this case wide open and put the culprits on ice.
