The initial call to 911 reported three people were trapped inside the car and were attempting to get out. Police on the scene said everyone was able to get out of the car OK.
Paramedics checked the occupants of both vehicles, and police said no one was injured.
Police said a Chevrolet Impala driven by 16-year-old Kelsea Burley of Spring Lake was traveling in the eastern lane of northbound U.S. 31 when a Pontiac Vibe came off Grand Isle Drive and hit it. The Impala rolled onto its roof.
The Impala came to rest on the inside northbound lane of the highway, north of Grand Isle Drive.
Joanna Butler, 48, of Lowell, was driving the Vibe. Police said she failed to yield the right of way.
For about 45 minutes after the crash, traffic on northbound U.S. 31 was backed up and other traffic rerouted while the vehicles and debris were cleared from the roadway.
