Police reported two people in one car and a passenger in the other vehicle suffered serious injuries in the 12:30 p.m. crash.

Brent Lundberg, 28, was attempting to exit a private drive onto Eighth Avenue when he drove into the path of a southbound vehicle, police said.

A 2008 Chevrolet Express Van driven by Nicholas Kleyn, 46, was unable to avoid the car and hit Lundberg’s 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt in the driver’s side door, police said.

Lundberg and a passenger, Meghan Hansen, 25, of Marcellus, both suffered serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

A backseat passenger in the Kleyn vehicle, 17-year-old Sharon Kleyn, also was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Nicholas Kleyn and three other passengers were not injured.

Police said Lundberg was ticketed for failure to yield the right-of-way.
