Courtney Marie Barton, 24, was in good condition Tuesday afternoon at North Ottawa Community Hospital, officials said.

Barton was the passenger in an eastbound 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan that went out of control at about 6:30 p.m. Monday and spun into the path of a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The westbound truck hit the van on its passenger side.

Barton was pinned in the smashed van and had to be extricated by Grand Haven Township firefighters. She was taken to the Grand Haven hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the van — Pate Denney, 21, also of Grand Rapids — suffered minor injuries in the crash. He was treated at North Ottawa Community Hospital and released.

The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Heidi Bezeeuw of Hudsonville, and her passenger, 45-year-old Steven VanLangevelde of Holland, were also treated at the hospital and released.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to Sgt. Greg Rotman of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The crash remains under investigation.
