Jeffrey Marchione, 48, was convicted in December 2013 of molesting a boy he met through a mentoring program. He assaulted the young teen on at least three occasions, prosecutors said.
Judge Robert James Redford, noting Marchione's “predatory conduct,” sentenced him to serve 9-15 years for the assault. The prison sentence will run concurrently to a 30-year sentence Marchione received in federal court for distributing child pornography. Federal investigators found more than 42,000 images of child pornography on computers at his Alto home.
As he left the court on Monday, Marchione's daughter called out: "Love you, dad.''
Federal prosecutors earlier called the married father of two a "skilled manipulator with a keen eye for vulnerable children.''
When he was arrested in July, federal authorities discovered a 150-page manifesto entitled "Hand Book 4 Child Lovers'' detailing how to find and molest children. The manual outlines "the advantages of finding sad and lonely children.''
Marchione worked as a licensed counselor, a Big Brother and a mentor, and was involved with 29 children as an adoptive parent, a foreign exchange host parent and foster parent.
