Emma McDonald and Jenna Winkler scored goals for Grand Haven’s varsity girls soccer team on Monday, but those two tallies weren’t enough as the Bucs lost at Grandville, 3-2.

The Bulldogs led 1-0 at halftime, then each team scored twice in the second half.

Claire Borchers provided an assist for Grand Haven.

Veronica Booth and Faith Platz each had a save in goal for the Bucs.

Junior Varsity: Grand Haven knocked off Grandville, 3-1.

Freshmen: The Bucs scored a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs.

WARRIORS BLANK CHARGERS

Western Michigan Christian scored a 5-0 win over Covenant Christian on Tuesday thanks to two goals each from Alexys Riksen and Alyssa Benedict.

Jessica Kinnucan added a goal for the Warriors, who are now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in River Valley play.

“Our girls are playing really good team soccer right now,” said Warriors’ coach David Hulings. “They don’t care who scores, who gets the assist, or who gets credit for a good defensive stop. Our passing is with real intent and purpose and our off-the-ball movement continues to improve. Covenent did a good job exposing some things we were weak at, and we need to clean those up.”

The Warriors take on Muskegon Catholic Central on Thursday.

Junior Varsity: WMC defeated Covenant Christian, 4-0. Kaylee Collins had two goals and an assist for the Warriors, while Harlie Hubers and Anna Weesies each added a goal. Macie Gentry dished out an assist.
