Grand Haven’s varsity girls tennis team won for the second straight match, defeating Grand Rapids Catholic Central, 6-2.

“Lots of good things this evening,” said coach Jeremy Case, whose team is now 4-3-1. “Our focus is now firmly on the O-K Red Conference tournament on Saturday in Grandville.”

The Bucs won twice in singles play, then swept the doubles flights.

At No. 2, Meghan Hendrickson topped Rebecca Faber, 6-1, 6-0.

Gretchen Kelly continued her solid play at fourth singles, cruising past Kate Bennett, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, Adi Smith and Maggie Ginocchio won at No. 1, 6-1, 7-6 (5).

Melissa Eveland and Ellery Murphy won 6-2, 7-6 (5) at No. 2, while Nicolette Birkett and Josie Hendrickson won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.

At fourth doubles, Amelia Donohoe and Hailey Watkins teamed up for a 6-2, 6-4 win.
