Western Michigan Christian’s varsity girls soccer team battled a solid Grand Rapids Catholic Central team to a 2-2 tie on Saturday.
Alexys Riksen and Alyssa Benedict scored the Warriors’ goals, both unassisted.
Lindsey Johnson made 13 saves in goal for WMC, which is now 9-1-1 on the year.
“We had some great play in this game, and learned a little more about ourselves,” said coach David Hulings. “It was a good game to see some new players have to step up and see how they would respond. We especially learned a little bit more on how to play with new personnel in new places. It takes a little to get used to some new things.
“I think the game against MCC took a lot out of our legs, but more out of our emotion. We need to get used to playing in different places and at different times. Having a Saturday game was great and it gave us a little more experience to draw from later.”
The Warriors host Grand River Prep on Tuesday.
