Grand Haven and East Kentwood split a softball doubleheader at Grand Haven High School on Wednesday.
The Falcons won a squeaker in Game 1, 6-5, while the Buccaneers came out on top in Game 2, 6-1.
East Kentwood scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh in Game 1. The Falcons’ Kayla Kurzyniec doubled and scored on a Megan Smith single, before pitcher Abby Highway sat the Bucs down 1,2,3 in the bottom of the seventh.
Katelyn Messer, Kylie Masko, and Morgan Hill each connected on two base hits for Grand Haven, while Mikayla Gronback went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Grand Haven's Kylie Masko limited East Kentwood to just three hits in the Bucs’ Game 2 victory. Masko struck out seven and walked one.
Kaylee Hartwell went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two stolen bases. Gronback was also perfect from the plate, going 4-for-4. Messer chipped in with two base hits.
