The Lakers had two first place finishes on the day.
Sisters Allie and Bella LeRoux went 1-2 in the pole vault, with heights of 11 feet, 6 inches and 11 feet flat, while junior Carlyn Arteaga won the 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 17 seconds.
Grace Peterson and Erin O’Keefe both had multiple top 10 finishes for Spring Lake.
Peterson took third in the high jump (5-2) and seventh in the 300 hurdles (50.62), while O’Keefe came in fifth in the 3,200 (12:17) and sixth in the 1,600 (5:31).
Other top 10 finishers for the Lakers were Lydia Suchecki (sixth, high jump) and Lacie Piekarski (ninth, 3,200).
WMC boys take fifth
The Western Michigan Christian boys took fifth place at the MITCA Division 4 championships on Saturday, coming behind host Saugatuck, Evart, Sand Creek and champion Summerfield.
The Warriors were paced by two first place relays.
A team of Elijah Vandervelde, Max Purvis, David Gilson and Braxton Snuffer received gold in the 3,200-meter relay (8 minutes, 20 seconds), while Vandervelde joined Christian Rogers, Tully Groenendyk and Jason Normandin to take the 800 relay (1:32).
Groenendyk finished second in the 400 (53.97) and fifth in the 100 dash (11.92).
Other top 10 placers for the Warriors were: Alex Rob (fifth, 110 hurdles), Chris Visser (sixth, 110 hurdles), James Sytsema (ninth, 3,200), Sam Mast (fourth, high jump), Devin Eekhoff (sixth, discus), Normandin, (fourth, shot put), Vandervelde (second, 400), Snuffer (third, 1,600), Rogers (fourth, 300 hurdles) and Gilson (eighth, 100).
