Spring Lake junior Ben Kramer placed 14th at this weekend’s Division 2 golf state finals, held at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing.

Kramer shot a 76 on Saturday after opening the finals with a 77 on Friday. His total of 153 was one spot off the list of medalists. Five golfers tied for ninth place with a 152.

Croswell-Lexington’s Austin Carter was the individual state champion with consecutive rounds of 72. Bloomfied Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood edged Forest Hills Eastern for the team state title.

“He had a good round,” said coach George Bitner. “He had a good round. He was steady and didn’t have one penalty stroke in the two days, so we’re happy with that.”
