Lakers sweep doubles flights at tournament

The Spring Lake tennis team captured the Allegan Invitational on Thursday.

Spring Lake’s 12 points put the Lakers ahead of the host school’s seven, and Stevensville Lakeshore’s five.

The Lakers had outright winners in all four of their doubles flights.

Kasey Panyard and Griffin Wagasky defeated Lakeshore’s No. 1 pairing, 6-4, 6-2, and Allendale, 6-3, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles, the senior pairing of Mike Tomaszczyk and Blake Henning took out Allendale, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7, and Lakeshore, 6-0, 6-3.

Erik Sievertsen and Holden Gilbertson easily disposed of their competition at No. 3 doubles, defeating Lakeshore 6-0, 6-0, and Allendale, 6-4, 6-2.

The No. 4 duo of Aaron Tilton and Tanner Hoag competed the doubles’ sweep for the Lakers, beating Lakeshore, 6-1, 6-0 and Allendale, 6-1, 6-1.

No. 2 singles player Trevor Zenas was the lone outright winner for the Lakers in the singles flights, while at No. 3, Greg Campbell finished in a three-way tie for first.
