WMC takes out Orchard View

The Western Michigan Christian soccer team (3-2) beat Orchard View on Wednesday, 3-0.

Eli Vandervelde scored a goal in each half, while Trent Alphenaar scored in the first half to help guide the Warriors to victory.  

Vandervelde was assisted on the first goal by Ben Mast, and Alphenaar was assisted by sophomore Liam Rudd, who was pulled up for this varsity game from the JV team.  
WMC outshoot Orchard View 24-3 on the night.    

Michael Merz had two saves in the net for the Warriors.

WMC coach David Hulings praised the play of defenders Tyler Cook, Jacob Ray, Eric Bourdo, Liam Rudd and Max Purvis.   

“They did a good job of shutting down each of OV's attacks, as well as getting into the attack,” Hulings said.

WMC’s next contest is against Traverse City Christian at noon on Friday.  

JV: The Warriors defeated the Cardinals, 4-1. Tyler VanBeek scored twice, Evan Fles scored once and had two assists. Reece Butrick also scored for WMC, while John Finley added an assist.
