Senior Jacob Kostner booted a 25-yard field goal with three minutes remaining in the contest to give the Buccaneers a hard-fought 17-14 win over the host Trojans of Fruitport on Thursday night.

The Buccaneers outgained the Trojans on the night, 244 yards to 177, but it was Fruitport that held a 14-7 lead thanks to Nick Kramer’s 1-yard touchdown run and Brice Wahr’s two-point conversion catch late in the third quarter.

The Bucs tied the game on Joey Zelenka’s 3-yard scoring run with 5:36 to play.

Schaefer Thelen rushed for 154 yards for the Bucs, who visit East Lansing next Friday.

Nathan Kriger had 94 yards rushing and made nine tackles, including two for a loss, for the Trojans.

Bucs looked good. Big physical team up front. Fruitport has no discipline, mistakes, hard count penalties, this killed them last season. Its coaching. Congrats Bucs go get em.
