Lakers' divers turn in strong performance

The Spring Lake swimming team lost to Holland Christian on Tuesday, 108-78.

Spring Lake swimmers saw state qualifying times and wins in three events.

Meghan Peel won both the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 23 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:03), while Jennifer Meulenbelt took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10).

Allison Brown (100 backstroke and 200 IM), Annie Brechting (100 butterfly), Emma Tober (50 freestyle) and Madelyn Rabideau (100 freestyle) all had impressive performances for the Lakers.  

Divers take three of top four spots

The Spring Lake divers took spot No.’s 1, 2 and 4 against Holland on Tuesday.

Paige Rubleski continued her tear, coming in first with a score of 201.35. Teammate Audra Bialik followed in second with a 170.25. Ronnie Russell missed third-place by less than two points, coming in at 159.15.

“The girls looked great tonight,” said coach Barb Brackett. “If they keep improving like they have been it will be a great year.”
