Whitecaps, GVSU to square off in exhibition game

COMSTOCK PARK -The first chance to see the West Michigan Whitecaps in action this season will be during a six-inning exhibition game against Grand Valley State University on Wednesday at Fifth Third Ballpark. Admission to the game is free. Gates to the park open at 5:30 p.m., with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Whitecaps players will sign autographs for fans following the game.

GVSU is currently ranked 7th in NCAA Division II with a 11-2 record. The Lakers finished the 2010 season with a 37-16 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional title game for the seventh time in the past eight years. The Whitecaps’ regular season opens Thursday at Lansing, while their home opener is scheduled for Sunday against the Lugnuts at 1 p.m.
