Bucs' boys lacrosse has no trouble pounding 'Dawgs

Grand Haven raced to an 8-0 lead and coasted to a 14-1 boys lacrosse win over Vicksburg on Tuesday. "We started slow but we found a rhythm late in the first quarter,' coach Murle Greer said, the Bucs' first-year coach who previously coached at Grand Valley State University. Trevor Modzeleski scored four goals and added two assists for the Bucs, who are now 3-1 on the season. Elliott Karafa added two goals and three assists. Brandon Gravel had a goal and three assists, while Matt Burns added a goal and two assists.

Conner Davis also scored twice.

Matt Mulcahy led the team in ground balls, while Aaron Fischer had his best defensive showing to date, according to Greer.
Goalie RB Putnam had a shutout going through three quarters, then Nico Gatti played in goal the fourth quarter.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way these guys played,” Greer said. “We had a great day of practice after spring break. You don’t usually have those. It’s a testament to how much these guys want to be a better lacrosse team.”

The Bucs take on Spring Lake’s club team on Thursday at Spring Lake. The varsity teams face off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the JV game.
