After a scoreless first period, the Riders struck for three goals in the second. The Jacks’ regular-season leading goal scorer, Matt Berry, scored his third goal of the postseason with 3:43 gone by in the third to get the Jacks within two. He picked up the puck along the right-side half wall, moved into the slot and snapped a wrister over Brady Hjelle’s left shoulder. But 1:35 later, Justin Kovacs rebuilt the Riders’ three-goal lead. Cedar Rapids added a pair of goals down the stretch.
If Game 4 is necessary, it will take place at the L.C. Walker Arena on Monday at 7:15 p.m. If a decisive Game 5 is required, it will be at the Stable on Wednesday.
