Sophomore foursome helps GH golfers win twice

Grand Haven's golfers shot a 166 on Thursday in O-K Red Conference victories over Rockford and West Ottawa. "We didn't throw any low rounds at them today, but our consistent low 40 scores allowed us to post a 166, which was enough to defeat Rockford's 169 and West Ottawa's 174,' Grand Haven coach Randy White said. "We were excited to beat Rockford on their course, stopping a 44-match winning streak.'

Senior Ben Lewis and sophomores Patrick Ferris and Kevin LaCroix each shot a 41 for the Buccaneers. Sophomore Ethan Groothuis shot a 43, and sophomore Mark Nalley added a 44.

“I like how consistent the guys are, but our challenge now is to bring that mid-160 score into the 150s,” White said. “Our ball striking is solid, but we are still giving away a lot of shots around the green.”
