Lakers' girls soccer upends Fruitport

Spring Lake's varsity girls soccer team upset Fruitport on the Trojans' home field on Tuesday evening, 2-0. The game was originally scheduled to be played Monday night, but was pushed back a day due to lightning. Junior Kelsey Kippe scored both goals for the Lakers. The first came off a nice pass from Katie Smith while Morgan Gagnon set up the Lakers' second goal.

The Lakers' you defense was fantastic against a dangerous Trojans' squad. Sophomores Leeann Latsch, Hailey Pellegrom and Molly Miedema and junior Kendall Meyers held the Trojans without many good scoring chances, especially in the second half.
