Prep sports roundup: Bucs' golf slips up at O-K Red tri-meet

Grand Haven was off its game in a key O-K Red Conference tri-meet at Grand Haven Golf Club on Tuesday, resulting in Rockford scoring comfortable wins over the Bucs and West Ottawa. Rockford finished with a team score of 161, compared to the Bucs' 175 and the Panthers' 189. "We tried to extend our unbeaten match record, but we came out flat from the start,' Grand Haven coach Randy White said. "Putts weren't going in and we were dropping shots as we approached each hole.'

Kevin LaCroix led a tight group of scoring for the Bucs with a 42, followed by Ben Lewis’ 43. Patrick Ferris and John Morehouse each carded a 45, Mark Nalley added a 46 and Reid Murphy recorded a 50.

Grand Haven travels to Muskegon on Thursday.

HEYBOER TO VISIT WMC

The Western Michigan Christian girl’s soccer team will host conference opponent Freedom Christian on Thursday at 6 p.m.

This contest will feature a special guest in Michigan State standout Laura Heyboer, who is also a member of the U.S. Women’s U-23 National Team. She will sign autographs and talk with young players in attendance. Children are offered free admission by wearing WMC’s colors of Green and White.
