Golf roundup: Warriors, Lakers score victories

The WMC golf team edged NorthPointe Christian by two strokes to win the River Valley Conference Jamboree, held at LE Kaufman Golf Course on Wednesday. Senior Collin Breit shot a par 36 for the Warriors while his sophomore brother Alec carded a 38. Sam Vos and Jon Cook each had 42s for the Warriors. SL GOLF WINS ANOTHER JAMBOREE Spring Lake improved to 3-for-3 in victories at Lakes Eight Conference Jamborees this spring, as they edged Ludington and Fremont by five strokes to win at Orchard View's home course, Moss Ridge.

Spring Lake now holds a 19-stroke lead over Ludington in the cumulative league standings.

Spring Lake totaled a 165 on Wednesday, led by David Bonter’s 39. Marcus Fry added a 41, John VanderLaan shot a 42 and Henry McGannon carded a 43.

“It was a tough course. They hadn’t watered the course this year. The greens were like cement,” Spring Lake coach George Bitner said.
