Softball roundup: SL splits against host Whitehall

A two-run single from Alex Spinner in the top of the seventh inning ignited a three-run inning for the Spring Lake varsity softball team, helping them break a tie with Whitehall and secure a 10-7 victory in the first game of the team's doubleheader on Wednesday. Game 2 wasn't as kind to the Lakers, as coach Bill Core said his team's pitching and defense fell apart in an 18-9 loss.

“We just broke down,” Core said, whose team is now 9-10 overall. “It was our 14th game in the past eight days, and I think all of it caught up to us in that second game.”
