WMC roundup: Warriors sweep away Potter's House

Host Western Michigan Christian Monday swept a baseball doubleheader from Wyoming Potter's House, winning 16-1 and 20-1 at Marsh Field. Chase Sutter and Christian Brower picked up the wins in the pair of three-inning games. Top hitters for the Warriors were Tim Schuitema, who went 5-for-8 from the plate; Matt Wisen, who was 4-for-6; and Chase Sutter, who collected a hit in each of his two at-bats. WMC GOLFERS 6TH

Western Michigan Christian golf team locked horns with some of the big boys Monday and finished sixth out of 20 teams at the Tullymore Invitational in Big Rapids.

The tournament featured six Division I teams, seven Division 2 teams, four Division 3 teams and three Division 4 teams — including the Warriors.

Holt, ranked No. 5 in D-1, won the event with a 306, followed by Grand Ledge, which is ranked No. 4 in D-1, with a 311.

The Warriors shot a 320, with Alec Breit shooting a 76, good for fifth overall at the tournament. Collin Breit shot a 79, which placed him 16th overall. Rounding out the WMC foursome were Sam Vos with an 82 and Jon Cook with an 83.


The Lady Warriors scored four second-half goals Monday at Covenant Christian to defeat the Chargers 5-1.

WMC led 1-0 at intermission on a goal by Dena DeKryger assisted by Rachel Karsten.

Timera Crosby scored two early second-half goals, one another Karsten assist and one off an assist from Kelly Hoffius.

Freshmen Mykayla Denison scored on a penalty kick and followed it with another goal to finish the scoring for the Warriors.
