Lakers knock out Bucs in softball doubleheader

The Spring Lake Lakers softball team won both games of Friday's doubleheader against the Grand Haven Buccaneers, but cancer sufferers are the real winners. The teams, dressed in purple uniforms, raised more than $1,000 for research during the "cancer awareness' games by selling t-shirts and taking donations. Each player wore a commemorative purple jersey and played in support of a cancer survivor or in memory of someone who lost their life to the disease.
