A total of 14 Western Michigan University football players - including a pair of former Grand Haven Buccaneers - were recently named to Phil Steele's Preseason All Mid-American Conference team. Grand Haven's Dann O'Neill, an offensive tackle, and kicker John Potter, were both granted spots on Steele's second-team preseason list.

O’Neill, a 6-foot, 8-inch, 307-pound redshirt junior, started 10 games last year. O’Neill originally committed to the University of Michigan and after redshirting his freshman year, had to sit out a season after transferring to Western Michigan.

Potter earned third-team All-MAC honors as a junior and was named the Broncos’ Outstanding Special Teams player. He is the school record-holder with a current streak of 72 made point-after attempts, and also holds the school record for PATs made in a season (50) and most tackles by a kicker (28). He made 10-of-12 field goal attempts as a junior and has converted 31 field goals in his career.
