Defending champion Maureen Whitehead automatically receives the No. 1 seed. She’ll meet Barb Schmid in today’s match play opener. Schmid, who won the SLIT title in 2005, qualified eighth with a 78.
“There were many good rounds today,” said SLCC head golf professional Josh Lathwell.
As the second seed, Steinbacher will face Laura Monea, who shot a 78 for the seventh seed. Benford will take on the sixth seed, Grand Haven’s Collette Hansen, who shot a 78.
The 4-5 matchup features Leslie Fletcher, who shot a 77, against Chris Zeigler, who carded a 78.
Spring Lake Country Club member Kathy Eisenga, along with Judy Lazzaro and Garety, each shot a 79 and will be the top three seeds, respectfully, in the No. 1 flight. Also reaching the No. 1 flight were Heidi Lemmen and Carol Elias, who each shot rounds of 80; Jan Smith, who carded an 83; and Jayne VanderMolen and Susan Campbell, who each shot an 84.
Jean Murray, then 2008 SLIT champion, shot an 86 and will compete in the Second Flight.
Spring Lake’s Emily Rosencrants and Michele Yasenak will meet in the opening round of match play in the third flight. Rosencrants qualified with an 81 while Yasenak shot an 86.
SLCC’s Laura Fri will also compete in the third flight after qualifying with an 85. Another SLCC member, Karen Sherwood, also shot an 85 and will be the top seed in the sixth flight.
