GRSC hosts 8+8 Cruising Rally on Lake Michigan

The Grand River Sailing Club hosted the 24th annual 8+8 Crusing Rally on Lake Michigan during a sun-soaked afternoon on Saturday. A fleet of 12 competed in ideal wind and wake conditions, but the emphasis is on fast cruising. A non-competitive staggered start was used, which is determined by each boat's handicap. The course was determined by the win direction from the northwest, locating the rounding committee boat eight nautical miles southwest. This put the point of sail on a beam reach in both eight-mile directions.

The first-place boat was JetStar, which is owned by Mac McClelland, with second place going to Stingray, which was sailed and co-owned by Myron Constantine. The third-place boat was Frank Lloyd Starboard, sailed by Denny Dryer.
