SL's Fry, pair of Warriors' golfers named all-state

Spring Lake junior Marcus Fry was recently named to the Division 2 all-state boys golf team. Fry was one of just 10 players to make the Division 2 first team. He earned his spot by averaging 38.1 strokes per nine-hold round this season. Fry placed seventh at the state meet, shooting rounds of 70 and 76. "He deserved it,' Lakers' coach George Bitner said. "He had a good season. It's not just finishing in the top 10 at the state meet. It includes the entire season.'

A pair of Warriors also earned all-state honors.

For the fourth consecutive year, senior Collin Breit earned first-team all-state recognition. Younger brother Alec Breit, who was an honorable mention pick as a freshman last year, also earned first-team all-state honors.

The pair hleped guide the Warriors to a sixth-place finish at the Division 4 state meet last month. Collin Breit placed ninth individually at the state meet with rounds of 81 and 75.
